Wrinkle Relaxer Aftercare

Bruising is common with any procedure in which the skin is pierced with a needle. Many will not experience any bruising at all, while others will be more prone to it.

Typically, most bruising will resolve within 10-14 days.

To decrease your risk of bruising you may do the following prior to your appointment:

After Injections:

It’s best to treat the areas treated like you would a wound, let it breathe, don’t play with it, don’t put anything on it that might irritate the skin, be gentle and wait for it to heal.

  • Do not touch or manipulate the areas treated for a minimum of 2-4 hours after injections. You may risk moving the product into a muscle that could cause drooping in an undesired area.
  • Apply topical Arnica Montana (may be purchased over the counter without a prescription) to the treated areas starting 12 hours after your appointment.
  • Refrain from vigorous exercise for 24 hours post-treatment. This can exacerbate bruising by driving blood to the area and may shorten the duration that your wrinkle relaxer works.
  • Avoid saunas or hot tubs for 24 hours post-treatment. Raising your body temperature may shorten the duration that your wrinkle relaxer works.
  • For swelling and any tenderness, you may take Ibuprofen 400mg, Pepcid (Famotidine) 20mg tablet and Zyrtec (Cetirizine HCl) 10mg tablet together. These can be purchased over the counter without a prescription.
